His final design in Soul Calibur IV includes an element from his 2P costume from Soul Edge - monoculars. In Soul Calibur IV his initial concept even had a ball gag, but this wasn't included in the game, possibly due to its offensiveness or to avoid a higher rating. Most of his costumes also include other fetish elements, such as spikes, strings tied tightly around his body, thongs revealing his buttocks and parts of his costumes are made from see-through fishnet. Voldo almost always wears a leather harness, which resembles a head trainer, covering his eyes and mouth. Following his debut appearance in Soul Edge, all of his costumes had a very direct approach to the sado-masochistic slave theme which is associated with him. In Soulcalibur V's promotional material he is referred to as He Who Is Bound By Blind Allegiance.ĭue to his appearance, Voldo is considered as an oddity, even among the Soul series' cast. Thus, making him reliant on his senses and only being able to make grunting, groaning and hissing noises.

Voldo remains one of the most well known and popular characters in the series due to his unique playstyle and disturbing appearance. He is one of the few characters to have been present in every version (either arcade or home) of almost all of the games in the series in the main series, he, Siegfried, Mitsurugi, Nightmare and Cervantes are the only characters to have appeared in every installment. Later, in the sequel, Soulcalibur, he gained many of his staple moves and traits that would later stay in his reappearance during following games Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur IV. Voldo first appeared in Soul Edge, offering the first insights of his unpredictable play style and mannerisms. Which don't get me wrrong is cool but I would like Mantis stance to be more.not situational but ansitional between moves and not so much that main trick.Soul Edge Soulcalibur Soulcalibur II Soulcalibur III Soulcalibur IV Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny Soulcalibur V Soulcalibur: Unbreakable Soul Voldo (ヴォルド, Vorudo) is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. I agree he is a TON of fun in other entries but here it's like everything leads to mantis fire dancing or mantis foot ritual. I just don't see a lot of talk about Voldo.is all. If you just block when not dealing with mantis.everything is mid mid mid mid mid some random low and I can't even think of a high? but because he doesn't recover 90% of the time if you block it'll be "your turn".again when not dealing with mantis stances Like Zas.everything feels like it hits right on both ends if that makes sense? like I always imagined voldo had a bit more precision play about him.but he's not punchy nor fluid. I don't understand why voldo feels so sloppy. 2 of them aren't even.what is the point? Of break dancing to launch a character on the wrong side of you.The kick animation should be different and put the foe on his head side not the foot side for you advantage. His kicks are.he ha a lot of useless kicks except for the most basic of them.

There are many way's to get into mantis stance but the follow ups.and out side of that.he's too slow, I feel. Like moves aren't happening until he's done with the follow-through animation. He is simply too slow.sort ofĪ lot of his standing moveset is not so much telegraphed as I feel like it just hits WAY later than it visibly should. He's from my experience almost always beat by any character single strike for single strike. I just don't like how eeeeverything-even what you all are saying.is hinged on mantis stance. Mantis stance forms bad habits pretty easily. While that may be, He's unusual but predictable when he's down in Mantis pending on the player.
